How a Filterless Humidifier Works

Buying a filterless humidifier might cost a little more, but it will save you money in the long run. These types of humidifiers are used in large rooms.

The filter that some humidifiers use is designed to absorb water in the reservoir and then release it into the air as a mist. The filter helps to trap the minerals and bacteria found in tap water before the mist is released into the air.

A filterless humidifier uses an electromagnetic charge to separate the minerals and bacteria from the water and air. The particles then stick to a plate which allows the rest of the water to be picked up by the air that flows into the unit.

Benefits of owning this type of humidifier is that the cost of the unit will be cheaper in the long run. You don’t have to constantly buy filters to replace the old ones. Manufacturers usually suggest that you replace a filter once every one or two months.

If you have hard water, you might end up replacing them every few weeks. You can end up spending a lot of money on filters every year.

Cleaning the humidifier is simpler also. Since there is no filter, you clean the plate instead. You simply pull the plate out of the unit, wipe it with a dry cloth and put the plate back in its place. You can also use a dry cloth to wipe down the exterior of the unit.

As with all humidifiers, you still need to clean out the reservoirs and clean the water tanks. You might have to do this once a week or every two weeks. The instruction manual will tell you exactly what you need to do in order to clean it the right way.

Some people are concerned that there is ozone created from these units. As long as you follow the manufacturer’s instructions and use the humidifier in a large room, this shouldn’t be a problem.
