Kaz Humidifier - The 4100 Kaz Cool Mist Humidifier Review
The 4100 Cool Mist Kaz Humidifier is another great unit for a small or medium size room. It has a 1-gallon water bowl which is easy to fill. It can operate up to 12 hours before you have to refill the water.
There has been some confusion with this particular model. Some stores mistakenly label this unit as the 4100K humidifier. The 4100K is discontinued. The 4100 Kaz Cool Mist Humidifier does not have an on/off switch. It operates by plugging in the unit. If you want to turn it off, you have to unplug it.
There is an air-cleaning filter that removes dust, pollen and odors from the air. It removes 93% of particles in the room. The filter should be replaced every two months. If you have hard water, you might have to replace it every month. You can order the Kaz filters cheaper from Amazon.
The important thing to remember when operating this particular Kaz humidifier is that it has to run several times before it operates at full capacity. So, the first few times you use it, you might not notice much mist coming out and the humidity level not rising. This is normal.
Don’t worry if you don’t see a mist even after it reaches full capacity. If your room is over 30% humidity level, you won’t see a mist. The unit is still working properly.
Refilling the unit is very easy. All you have to do is pour water into the water fill channel that’s located on the top of the unit. You can use a pitcher to do this. There is no tank you have to detach and pour water into. There is a water level indicator on the front of the unit so you don’t overfill it.
Unfortunately, this model does not have a rotatable output grille. The mist will just go in one direction. In order to direct the mist to a different location, you’ll have to turn the unit itself into the direction you prefer.
In order to prevent moisture from getting on furniture or on the floor, place the humidifier on a stable and level table. You can also place a non-conducting pad or mat under the unit to protect against accidental spillage.
Some people have complained about mold forming in the water. This is because they didn’t clean the unit often enough. It’s best to clean this unit once a week. If you have hard water, you might want to clean it every couple of days in order to get rid of the scaling on the inside of the unit and muddy looking water.
Other people complain that this unit is not as quiet as advertised. Some say it’s really loud. Others say it’s not that loud and is just white noise that doesn’t affect their sleep.
If you can’t stand any sound while you’re sleeping, then you might want to find a different humidifier. If white noise doesn’t bother you, then you’ll probably be satisfied with the 4100 Kaz Cool Mist Humidifier.
