Lasko Humidifier - The 1128 9-Gallon Evaporative Recirculating Humidifier Review

lasko 1128 9-gallon evaporative humidifier

The 1128 9-Gallon Lasko Humidifier is an evaporative recirculating unit. It releases cool, clean, invisible moisture. White dust that is normally common with humidifiers is absent with this model. You also won’t have a problem with over-humidification.

There is an adjustable humidistat, on/off indicator and a 4 ½ gallon water reservoir that is removable. It also has an evaporative filter pad included. This Lasko humidifier is designed for large areas. It can humidify spaces up to 3200 square feet.

This model will continuously circulate water through the unit. This will keep the filter moist which leads to longer lasting performance. You don’t have to worry about standing water that gets contaminated. The humidifier should operate for 8-10 hours before you have to refill the water.

The water will evaporate and be released into the air without the contaminants that are found in water, especially tap water. There are three settings (low, medium and high) that you can use to increase or lower the speed of the fan in the unit.

One problem with this humidifier is that it’s pretty loud even on the low setting. It sounds like a box fan sitting in a window. Many people just get used to the noise and it just becomes white noise to them.

It’s advertised as a 9-gallon unit, but it really only holds 4 ½ gallons of water. It actually evaporates 9 gallons of water into the air. The removable reservoir has a tendency to leak when you try to refill it. But this is a common problem with many humidifiers.

The unit does do a good job of raising the humidity level in several rooms. There is an automatic shut on and off function. Once the humidity level is at a desired level, the unit will shut off. If the humidity level drops below the desired level, the unit will come back on.

As with all humidifiers, regular cleaning is essential. It’s best to clean the unit once a week and change the filter once every two months. If you have hard water, you might have to change the filter sooner.

Overall, this is a really good humidifier to use in a smaller home or an apartment.
