Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier - The 1.0 Gallon Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier Review

vicks 1-gallon cool mist humidifier

The 1-gallon Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier delivers a cool mist through a wicking filter.

It has a 1-gallon water tank that is easy to fill. Since it delivers a cool mist, you can use this in a child’s room or nursery without fear of someone getting burned from hot water.

The 1-gallon Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier is small and easy to carry from room to room. This type of humidifier is best in small rooms.

The unit comes with two humidity settings, low and high. At low, the humidifier is quiet with just a bit of white noise. At the high level, the unit is really loud. You probably won’t be able to sleep with the noise. It’s best to keep it on the low setting and have it running constantly in order to get a decent humidity level.

This Vicks humidifier uses a filter that needs to be replaced every few weeks. You might have to replace it sooner if you have hard water. You’ll have to continuously buy filters throughout the life of the product. The humidifier will not operate without a filter.

The unit is pretty easy to clean. However, you do need to clean it at least once a week. The removable filter tray that sits on the bottom of the unit is dishwasher safe.

One of the main complaints with this humidifier is leaking. When you move the Vicks humidifier to a different room for cleaning, it will leak onto your floors. For some reason, there is a hole on the bottom of the unit.

The filter tray sits in the bottom but there is no way to keep it in place when you’re moving the unit. If the tray shifts while the humidifier is operating or you’re moving it from room to room, water is pretty much guaranteed to come pouring out of the unit.

The best way to eliminate this problem is to make sure there is no water in the unit before moving it.

Other people are unhappy about paying so much for filters. You can end up spending hundreds of dollars just replacing the filters. And if you have hard water, you’ll end up spending twice that amount because you have to replace the filters more frequently.

Some people say that this humidifier doesn’t raise the humidity level to an appropriate level on the LOW setting. Others had no problems with it. It probably depends on the size of the room. Like I said before, this unit works best in small rooms.
